PRIVACY POLICY REGARDING USERS' INFORMATION GAINED THROUGH YOURUSERAGENT.INFO WEBSITE

This privacy policy (hereinafter referred to as the "Privacy Policy", or simply the "Policy") explains how information obtained through the YOURUSERAGENT.INFO website and services (hereinafter referred to as the "Service") that YOURUSERAGENT.INFO, a website which provides certain information to its users (hereinafter referred to as "YUA") freely makes available to Internet users via the websites found at the domain names youruseragent.info and www.youruseragent.info (hereinafter referred to as the "Website").

Use of the Service gives one the condition of Service user (hereinafter referred to as the "User", "Users" collectively) and expresses one's acceptance of this Policy given in the version published by YUA at the time in which the User accesses the Service. As a consequence, the User must carefully read the Policy on each occasion in which he/she proposes to use the Service.

At YUA privacy of our Users is a matter of extreme importance to us. This Policy document outlines the types of personal information received and collected by YUA and how it is used, so that Users are able to make informed decisions.

Types of Information

Data collected through the Website can be divided in two categories: Personally Identifiable Information and Non-Personally Identifiable Information (hereinafter referred to as "PEID" and "NEID" respectively). PEID stands for all that information that identifies, or may be used for that purpose to identify, contact, or locate the person to whom such information pertains. This includes national identification numbers, telephone numbers, name, address, email address, financial information. NEID is, otherwise, generally collected anonymously, and cannot be used alone for the latter purposes. Normally, this includes IP address (and its related information such as ISP, demographic information, etcetera), software being used, connection speed, unique User identification numbers generated automatically, and all that information that is provided to comply with Internet protocols.

A third category can be pointed out, and it is such information that is NEID per se but that in combination with PEID can be sensitive (hereinafter referred to as "SEI"). SEI includes, but is not limited to: (a) racial and ethnic origin, (b) political opinions, (c) religious, philosophical and/or moral convictions, (d) union membership and (e) information concerning health or sex life. SEI cannot be obtained by automated mechanisms.

YUA does not store, transmit nor retrieve SEI of any kind. According to this, Users should not upload, post, publish, or otherwise supply YUA with this kind of information. If Users, even having been advised, still decide to supply YUA with SEI, then it shall receive the same treatment as NEID does.

Additionally, YUA does not generally ask the User for PEID. If it should occur, this information will not be made public without User permission unless one or more of the following applies: (a) the User has expressly agreed so; (b) YUA is required to do so by law.

NEID, on the other hand, may be unveiled publicly by YUA, without restriction of any kind. Both NEID and PEID might be used, in a non-exhaustive manner, for statistical purposes, for adapting the site to suit better the Users' needs, to display geotargeted advertisements (i.e., advertisements depending on the User's location). Such stadistics may be distributed to third parties, providing that any PEID was properly removed (i.e., it is not possible to access the PEID) even when PEID was used during the construction of that stadistics. Third parties services may collect NEID from the Website. Nevertheless, third parties may have acquired PEID and/or NEID and/or SEI by other means (e.g., direct user input on a third party website). In any case, YUA does not control how third parties deal with information they have acquired and Users are advised to read these third parties Privacy Policies as well.

Server logs

Like many other webpages, the Website makes use of log files. Log files contain only NEID, and its content is not linked to any information that is personally identifiable. Log files might, among other things, include the following information:

  • internet protocol (IP) address
  • type of browser
  • type of http request (GET/POST/etcetera)
  • HTTP status code (OK, Not Found, Forbidden, etcetera)
  • Internet Service Provider (ISP)
  • date/time stamp
  • referring/exit page
  • number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site, track user's movement around the site, and gather demographic information

Cookies and Web Beacons

Cookies are small text files stored on computers by a web browser. They consist of two parts, the name and the value. When a user visits a website, the web server may ask the web browser to store certain cookies. Then when the website is visited again by the same user the web browser should send the cookie(s) back to the server. Typically, cookies cannot be read by websites other than the one writting them.

Cookies can be considered harmless and do not contain viruses, spyware and/or other malware. In fact, they help to make the web a more comfortable place, and may be used for storing things such as user preferences, shopping cart contents, and session identifiers.

However, cookies may also be used to uniquely identify a user. This is the case with most third-party advertising programs. Even when these identifiers cannot generally be used to track the real identity of the user (e.g., his/her name), some people do not like being identified this way.

Web beacons, also called web bugs, are small pictures normally invisible for the user, but can be used to check whether a user has viewed a certain page or not, as well as for gathering certain information (NEID) about that user.

The Website does use cookies, and any third party service used in it may do the same. Third party services in the Website may use web beacons as well. Users who would not like cookie information to be stored on their browser, should know that they can chose to disable or selectively turn off our cookies or third-party cookies in their browser settings, or use tools such as Privoxy or Norton Internet Security. These tools can be used to block web beacons, too. However, such measures can affect their ability to interact and/or use the Website and/or its contents (e.g., inability to login).

DoubleClick DART cookie

YUA might occasionally display advertisements from Google network; this includes displaying AdSense ads or participating in Google certified ad networks. In these situations, cookies may be stored on the Users' computers either when they are displayed or clicked. The information gathered from such cookies is aimed at helping better serve and manage advertisements.

It is important to remark the following facts, for a better understanding of the behaviour of these cookies:

  • Google, as a third party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on the Website.
  • Google's use of the DART cookie enables it and its partners to serve ads to Users based on their visit to the Website and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • Users may opt out of the use of the DART cookie by visiting the Google ad and content network privacy policy.
